The 35-series for parliamentary races

Kenya's electoral system uses a parallel chain of forms for each elective position. Just as Form 34A/34B/34C handles presidential results, the 35-series handles Member of Parliament results. The pattern is the same: polling station, constituency tally, constituency declaration.

Form Level Records
Form 35A Polling station Parliamentary result at a single polling station
Form 35B Constituency Consolidated parliamentary result for a constituency
Form 35C Constituency Constituency-level parliamentary declaration

How the 35-series flows

The presiding officer completes Form 35A immediately after counting at the polling station, signs it, and transmits a copy. The constituency returning officer compiles Form 35B from all station-level 35As. Form 35C is the constituency-level declaration, analogous to Form 34C for president.

Form 36 for County Assembly Members

Form 36 handles MCA results. Unlike the presidential and parliamentary chains, which are constituency-centered, Form 36 consolidates ward-by-ward results at the county level. The county returning officer compiles it from the ward-level tallies.

The parallel structure is deliberate: every race has its own statutory paper trail. If you are contesting multiple seats in one constituency (president, MP, MCA, governor, senator, woman rep), you need agents trained on the forms for each race.

The broader pattern: 22 forms across 6 positions

Kenya has approximately 22 numbered forms across the six elective positions. The presidential chain (34-series), parliamentary chain (35-series), and county-level chain (36-series) are the most commonly referenced, but separate series exist for governor, senator, and woman representative races. All follow the same polling-station to constituency/county to declaration pattern.

Do not assume the process is identical for every form. Each form records specific data fields relevant to its race. Train your agents on the exact forms for the races you are contesting—general knowledge of "how forms work" is not enough.
